Ludington/Hamlin Lake October 1-2

A few friends and I went on a weekend trip up to my dads place on Hamlin Lake. We got into town Friday night around 11 and went to some bars. We got flagged into the dance floor by an older lady that whispered "it only takes one old lady" to us. The next day we went to downtown Ludington, skated the skate park, and relaxed. On the way home the last day we stopped in Grand Rapids to skate Clemente Park. Braydon and everyone who built it did a great job! Epic weekend trip considering we almost didn't go because of rain in the forecast.

After chilling at a couple bars the night we got in we got some rest hoping it would be dry the next morning. We woke up to a peaceful dry day and headed to the skate park in downtown Ludington. Only Matt had been to the park before and usually new parks are always fun. This one was no different it was really fun, not to mention it was on the beach! We even hooked a kid up with a board.

After skating the park for more than three hours I convinced the guys to walk/skate the pier. I knew with it raining in the distance there was some photo possibilities I couldn't pass up. Once we got to the end I asked Pat to do a trick one more time and his board slept out and went into the water. He attempted to climb in to get it but realized it was ten feet down. Bummer, but we still had fun, and even got to see and amazing sunset. 

On Sunday we knew we wanted to hit Grand Rapids and go to Clemente Park. It was an hour and a half from Ludington so we headed out around noon. It is a DIY park built by some guys that have visited out DIY park quite a few times. They did a great job building and it was very fun to skate. The best part was watching Braydon skate with his dog chasing him around. Wish I didn't run out of film and could've got more. We ended the trip by going to Founders Brewery. I knew it was there but didn't know how good the sandwiches would be. We were also lucky enough to see a cool twenty person jazz band playing as well. Can't wait to do this same trip and more soon!

Open Streets Detroit

Recently a friend asked us to be a part of "Open Streets Detroit". Which closes down one lane from downtown to mexicantown. You are able to ride bikes, skateboard, walk, etc. We built a bunch of random wooden ramps out of whatever we could find and more. It took about a week to build but the ramps came out really cool and people seemed to enjoy our set up. We even saw a few kids being introduced to skateboarding by letting them borrow our boards. At first I figured we were just building small ramps but if you know Derrick you know he goes hard. We used the picnic table in his backyard to build a crazy contraption, as well as the basketball hoop from the wig. His back yard looked like this for about a week. Sawing at night under flood lights included. 

Once we got done building and painting all the ramps we rented a U-haul truck and brought everything to our location on the path. The event was from 12-5. We had quite a bit of people watching us, a lot of skateboarders showed up, and we were even introducing kids to it. Hopefully at some point we gained some new skaters here or there. 

Pretty epic event! I'm glad to be apart of stuff like this. It was already a unique event and we added our own element to it. Thanks to all that helped us build, all that came to check us out, and Derrick for not giving up! 

Honey Bucket at Dunwell

A friend that I grew up skating with Matt Radosevich came back to town which he rarely does, to play a show. He was on a cross country van tour playing with his band Honey Bucket. We got to explore some buildings, skate, and chill. Good times for sure.

Prentis Street Spot Build.

One night recently we decided to use some of the quick set concrete we got from quikrete to make this little spot on prentis street that Francois had been wanting to make skate able. Around 9-10pm we mixed cement on the back porch of derricks house and the drove it over to the spot, quickly we realized the cement had already set in the buckets when we got there. We then poured more water on it and made it work. The spot didn't end up as fun as we had hoped but the process was fun, and it is skate able. These are photos from my first roll of 3200 film.

I just got a polaroid 210 camera, pretty hyped on it. Heres a few of my favorites so far.

Party at The Wig.

Yesterday for Derricks birthday we went up to the wig like any other day, but there was this big reunion going on. There were so many people grilling, dancing, and kids around asking to use our boards we let them skate more than we did. Pretty cool showing the kids something new, a lot of them learned quick. Hyped to get a few photos out of it.

Hamlin Lake

My dad bought a cottage up north in Ludington on Hamlin Lake. Here is a roll of film from the Fourth of July weekend which was my first time up there. I can't wait to go back! 

Random Day.

The other day I went out skating with some old friends. I almost didn't leave the wig but they convinced me to hit the streets with them. I'm glad I did because we had an epic session.
